Entertaining

We moved into a new home in September after 9 years in our previous house. Our old house was small, and Little Buddy did not have a room on the same level as our bedroom. To accommodate for our needs, her crib and furniture ended up being in the back part of the downstairs living room. We needed more space and she needed a room for herself. I loved this house. I loved our yard.  I loved our neighbors. We worked on and updated every inch of this house and it holds so many memories. It just did not fit our needs. My heart hurts every time I drive by. This epic move was only 1 mile down the road.

Moving comes with a level of stress I have never experienced. It was at the start of the school year, the hubs was coaching, and I was taking grad classes. This was nuts. Work/Life was stressful and our home was not a place for relaxation.

Heart attack!!

However, moving to a more spacious home meant I could finally entertain!  Right after we moved we had the girls’ tennis team over for pizza (so fun!) and now, rather than invite a few family and friends, I invited our entire elementary staff. Go big or go home! This was a major event for me on a few levels. It was the first time we packed Little Buddy’s bag and sent her to G and G’s house overnight (other than the night we had the flu and thought death was knocking on our door) AND entertaining at my house has been on my New Year’s Resolution list for 3 years. This is something I have ALWAYS wanted to do. Here’s the shakedown.

Finally, our home.

We cleaned and decorated.

Love this man
A chevron crock pot...seriously.
The hubs made yummy meatballs (Again, thank goodness he cooks!!) in my chevron crock pot. Everything is better with chevron.

My favorite dress

I saved my favorite chevron dress for this occasion.

Love my peeps

My peeps came over to ease my entertaining anxiety. 20 people were coming. 20.
Holy Cats.

Thinking back to last night, it was awesome. There was so much laughter, friends, wine, and food. I loved it! I love spending time with teachers outside of school. I think we could write a book. If you want a good story, give an elementary staff member a glass of wine and be prepared to be entertained. It’s like reality TV and a sitcom combined.

Sunday morning....

Sunday:  Cords, Sweater, Uggs, and Scarf

Our drive to get Little Buddy

Anywho, clean up is not as much fun. The hubs ran out and got us Caribou coffees which helped. We made the 60 mile trip to pick up Little Buddy (we did a little clearance shopping at Target on the way!). She had a great time playing in her new tent, reading books, playing kitchen, etc. She made about 4 seconds of the ride home until her eyes closed.
